Imagine running half a marathon, you only need to look at the faces of the people crossing the finish line at the Great North Run this weekend to realise how tougth it is. Why not run a full marathon. 26 miles and 385 yards of feet pounding on tarmac. Don't know about you but it sounds like pure hell for me. So when you hear that tranvestite comedian Eddie Izzard has run 43 martahons in 7 weeks i get exausted just thinking about it, but thats just what he has done and he claims he did it with only 5 weeks training behind him.
Of course he was doing it for Charity and like David Walliams before him it was fittingly Sport Relief . I'm not that up to date with the work that they do but i can only imagine that it is good. Of course not all of us are able to run 1100+ miles in such a short space of time. But on Sunday morning i made the hellish train journey from Chester to Nottingham where i just missed some friends of mine completing the Nottingham half marathon, a fine acheivement in itself and one they should all be rightly proud of.
As for my train journey, yes it was horrible one of the worst in my lifetime. Looking on a map the distance between the 2 cities is not that far. Yet due to the lovies at Network Rail no trains were to run between Crewe and Nottingham on the Sunday. Which left me with no choice but to head from Chester to Manchester to Sheffield to Nottingham, my wait in Manchester being one of 1 hour and 20 minutes and another 20 minute stop in Sheffield. I departed Chester at 9.42am and arrived in Nottingham at 2.20pm. No wonder my back has been hurting the past few days.
